G2: GNSS/IMU GEOREF
Overview
One of the primary features of the G2 system is to enable direct georeferencing on a personal level with increased flexibility and mobility. The G2 system is designed to be a compact, self-contained hand-held device, which consists of several low-cost sub-components, including one carrier-phase capability GPS receiver, one six-degree-of-freedom IMU, two microcontroller-implemented data loggers, and one wireless serial communication unit. The synchronized, time-stamped GPS and IMU data are saved in on-board storage of data loggers. Furthermore, wireless serial communication can provide real-time feedback information in the field. In the near future, next revision of the G2 system will integrate two data loggers into one for a samller and more power efficient design, whereas other sub-components remain unchanged.
